Purpose

Our motto is simple: if we can’t immediately identify the real-world national impact, we don’t chase the work, period.

401k Plans
Cipher Tech runs its employee 401k retirement plans through Vanguard. We have a competitive fund lineup with extremely low maintenance fees, when compared to industry averages. Employees can begin to contribute after 30 days of full-time employment. Cipher Tech begins matching contributions up to 5% after six months of employment and a minimum of 500 hours worked.

Holiday & PTO (Paid Time Off) \ Sick Pay
Employees are paid for 11 federal holidays each year. If an employee chooses to work on a holiday instead of taking the day off, the holiday hours can typically be banked for future use within the year, or applied to that week’s timesheet in addition to the hours worked, offering maximum flexibility. Employees earn paid time off, to include sick pay, as a fraction of billable hours worked. PTO\Sick Pay is a bucket of hours that can be used anytime you want or need to take a break from work. With each consecutive year of employment, an employee’s PTO\Sick accrual rate automatically increases.

Technical Training & Tuition Reimbursement
Technical training, to include conferences and college courses, will be considered on a case-by-case basis for all employees.

Additional Work
There is never a shortage of work at Cipher Tech and most employees have the opportunity to work additional hours on various projects above and beyond their standard 40-hour weeks. You will never be forced to work more than 40 (we understand that our employees do have lives outside of the office), but if you’re looking for the opportunity to make more money while exploring new areas of technology, we’ve got a host of possibilities for you.

Three Percent
Cipher Tech pays sizable end of year bonuses (3% of gross funds) for any revenue that an employee drives to the company through innovative ideas that turn into contracts, products or services. These ideas are often envisioned by an employee and then incubated via the IRAD program.

Monthly WAN Parties
Cipher Tech maintains our own Discord channel and hosts monthly WAN parties. From the comfort of their own homes, employees battle colleagues in a variety of computer games throughout the night, from DOTA® to Overwatch® and everything in between. Everyone is free to flex their mouse-clicking muscles. N00bs welcome.

Quarterly Happy Hours
We know that you’d probably rather be writing code, but once a quarter we make it a point to host a social event in real-life that doesn’t revolve around technology or games. Fear not, smartphones are still permitted for those of you who prefer to sit quietly, drink beer, and communicate with each other via text message instead.

Healthcare
We’ve done our absolute best to mitigate rapidly rising healthcare costs by offering heavily subsidized medical, dental, and vision plans from leading nationwide providers. The company leverages a high-deductible medical plan with a health savings account (HSA). Once you have satisfied your annual deductible, aside from minimal co-pays, the plan pays 100% of all in-network qualified medical & pharmacy expenses. Unlike the vast majority of other policies, there is zero co-insurance for in-network care. Eligible employees who opt out of medical, dental, and vision coverage with Cipher Tech are eligible to be compensated $100 per month.

Life Insurance & STD
All full-time employees receive life insurance and short term disability coverage at no cost.

Flex Time
Individuals working on a customer site typically have the ability to operate on a constrained “Flex 40” system. That means that whenever the client building is open, the number of hours worked per day can be varied as long as they total 40 for the week. Individuals working in Cipher Tech spaces (all open 24/7) have the ability to operate on an unconstrained “Flex 40” system so long as there is reasonable overlap with the rest of the team.

Relocation Reimbursement
Cipher Tech will reimburse up to $2,000 of expenses incurred by new employees who are moving more than 40 miles from (or for those who have more than a 40 minute average commute to) the inbound employee’s primary work site.

Internal Research and Development (IRAD) Program
Have an idea? Always wanted to run your own team? The internal research and development program sponsors the R&D of new ideas, prototypes, products, or services that are paid for directly by Cipher Tech. The Company will authorize pools of IRAD funding when an employee, or a team of employees, has an idea that falls into one of the company’s critical areas of interest.

Referral Bonuses
Cipher Tech has a clear-cut referral program which compensates existing employees for referring their interested and qualified friends to the company. Each referrals bonus can range from $2,500-$6,000 depending on the referred individual’s qualifications.

Monthly Board Game Nights
Whether you’re a tabletop-obsessed geek who owns every board game ever released or a novice player, monthly board-game nights provide a family-friendly environment in our offices where you can engage in a battle of wits against your coworkers.
