GNU Currency, LLC.

CTS was hired to develop custom software for the Foreign Exchange (Forex) markets. This software is designed to assist traders by rapidly producing profitability statistics, currency movement predictions, and trade suggestions using live Forex quotes, historical data and an array of user inputs. Additionally, the deployed client software uses a centralized n-tier server system which is responsible for disseminating data in close to real time.

Hughes riskAppsTM

CTS supports the Hughes riskApps team in development of Windows Forms Applications which utilize MS SQL datastores.  CTS also develops the architecture for future iterations of such software including various web front-ends. RiskApps uses a combination of genetic testing data, family tree data, and lifestyle data in conjunction with empirically developed statistical models to assess cancer risk in patients.

In addition to these tasks, CTS works on a variety of proof-of-concept projects which include MS Health Vault on top of the MS Model View Controller framework, and MS Silverlight as a platform for moving riskApps to the web. CTS currently spearheads the effort to port existing riskApps components to a Silverlight based web front end using the existing RiskApps backend and business tier.

Microsoft® HealthVault™

Over the summer of 2008, Hughes RiskApps™ contracted Cipher Tech to engage in exploratory development using Microsoft’s new personal health record platform know as HealthVault.  The goals of the exercise were to determine the feasibility of and challenges associated with developing a web front end for Hughes RiskApps’ risk calculation engine using MS Health Vault as the data storage medium.  This was the first usage of a HealthVault web front-end by Hughes RiskApps.

CT engineers took the innovative approach of using Microsoft’s new ASP .NET Model View Controller framework as a scaffold which would allow for rapid addition and presentation of content and screens while maintaining a distinct separation of business logic data modeling.  This was deemed to be valuable in this application since the end product needed to interface with these disparate technologies.  Few people had previously attempted to mate Health Vault, a traditional ASP .NET library, with the new MVC framework.

CT was successful in wiring together HealthVault and MVC. Engineers produced a prototype web survey which stored and loaded data to and from a development HealthVault server.
